New SUV Expected to Keep Maserati Moving Forward
When it’s time to shop for a luxury automobile, sophisticated buyers know to shop for a Maserati. When it’s time to look for a Maserati for sale, NY residents know to come to Maserati of Albany for the best service and the best selection.
Next year, Maserati of Albany and Maserati dealerships throughout the country will get the 2016 Maserati Levante, a long-awaited luxury SUV that is expected to help the brand continue to enjoy exceptional sales.
Last year, Maserati enjoyed record sales. However, a worldwide decline in demand and a lack of new models for this year have seen sales dip compared to last year, though overall sales remain strong. 2015 will still be the second-best year on record since Maserati became a part of the Fiat Chrysler family. The introduction of the Levante is expected to breathe new life into the brand and drive sales next year, keeping Maserati on a five-year growth plan.
Right now, Maserati offers only the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans and the GranTourismo coupe or convertible. The Levante will shake up the selection, and it will be the first SUV offered by Maserati. The Levante will begin production in February, and it should be released mid- to late year. Industry insiders speculate that it will be revealed at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but Maserati officials will not confirm those rumors.
Though Maserati has unveiled two concept SUVs over the past decade, it has not put one into production until now, leaving it a bit behind its luxury competitors. Meanwhile, the luxury crossover market has grown from 23 percent of worldwide luxury vehicle sales in 2010 to 31 percent last year, according to IHS Automotive. The firm expects sales to continue to grow to 33 percent in 2016 and 33 percent in 2020.
Right now, sales of the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte are leading profits, but executives expect that to change when the Levante hits dealerships. Last year, Maserati sold 14,690 cars in the United States and 36,500 cars worldwide. Those numbers were up 110 percent and 136 percent, respectively, from 2013. Maserati aims to sell 75,000 units a year worldwide by 2018. Maserati also plans to increase dealerships from 350 around the world to 400. There are 106 dealerships currently in North America.
After releasing the Levante, Maserati plans to continue revitalizing its product line by introducing the Alfieri sports coupe and a new GranTurismo.
