Maserati Alfieri to Hit Production Line in 2020
Maserati Alfieri Concept Car Finally Becoming a Reality in 2020
The Maserati Alfieri was solely a concept car just a few short years ago.
Now, it’s a reality.
Set to make its next appearance at the 2020 Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland before officially hitting the production line for consumers, the Alfieri is scheduled to be available in the United States this year.
The original Alfieri concept car made its debut in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show, boasting an appearance and style derived from the GranTurismo MC Stradale but with a shorter wheelbase. The luxury sports coupe had a naturally aspirated 4.7-litre V8 engine that boasted 460 horsepower and 383 lbs. of torque then.
In the six years that have passed since the original car was unveiled, significant changes in style and upgrades have undoubtedly been implemented on a vehicle that will turn heads before the engine is even turned on.
One such anticipated change is in the powertrain.
The Alfieri model is expected to come with a choice of three different electrified powertrain options: hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric.
These powertrain changes are being made as Maserati seeks to maintain its position as a superior combination of high-tech performance and leader in technology, paving the way for not just a better driving experience, but for a better, safer planet, too.
Some of the most notable improvements to the Alfieri in its debut year on the regular production line surround the vehicle’s performance, of course.
Expect the Maserati Alfieri to boast power tuned to the acceleration rate of 0 to 60 in two seconds flat. Yes, this means the Alfieri will be one of the fastest cars the world has seen to date.
Regardless of the powertrain, the Maserati Alfieri is will be available in both coupe and convertible body styles.
American consumers can expect the highly anticipated Alfieri model to replace the GranTurismo coupe for good in the not-so-distant future.
How the Maserati Alfieri Received its Name
The Alfieri is being recognized as an homage to the luxury auto brand’s sports heritage and is the authoritative design of the future.
And the Alfieri is so much more than just a name.
Alfieri Maserati was a founder of the brand and played an important role in the company for 18 years until his untimely passing at the age of 44.
It should be no surprise that a vehicle with such a name would be nothing short of industry-changing and unstoppable.
The Alfieri concept car was designed in the founder’s image with a unique styling that has gone unmatched, much like his own.
Maserati Alfieri Production
Production on the Maserati Alfieri is expected to begin in early 2020, on schedule for the March motor show in Geneva.
Regular vehicle production is expected to take place in the legendary Maserati Modena plant, which has been overhauled in anticipation of the new model.
“The first pre-series production cars of a totally new model, a characteristically Maserati sports car, will roll off these lines starting in the first half of next year,” said Harald J. Wester, CEO of Maserati S.p.A. in a press release.
This statement is, of course, in reference to the all-new Alfieri sports car.
We wait with abated breath in anticipation of the latest Maserati — the elegant Alfieri — making its showroom debut on Central Avenue in Albany, New York, at Maserati of Albany as soon as it becomes available.
